So far, I've been getting back into the groove and trying to get everything in order. As for now, I am taking a Mexican art history class at the community college here in Riverside and it is proving to be facinating. I just love culture and all it has to offer and art is one aspect that sometimes aids in explaining the cultural significance of a people, especially if they no longer exist.
In other news, I celebrate my birthday on September 20th! Can't believe a whole year has gone by! Not sure what I'll be doing but I'm thinking a trip to Disneyland is in order!
And because blogging is better with a photo, here is one from my vacation :)

**I do want to shout out a quick reminder that I am officially open to take Senior portraits! Book now to reserve your shoot date and killer summer light while it's still here!
Well, kind of. I'm still getting everything sorted out here and trying to get back into the rthym of things. But I will be sharing my trip soon!!! In the meantime, I will leave you with this teaser from Chichen Itza, one of the 7 wonders of the world.

Happy Tuesday!
I know that this year has been a difficult one and with this economic downturn, I am just so fortunate to be able to take a vacation. Luckily, my family in Mexico is saving me a few bucks which will be nice because upon returning I might have a couple of pesos to rub together.
For my clients: I will be gone until August 29th (Saturday). I will have limited internet connection and no phone communication. However, I do plan on returning any and all messages when I get settled back.
I'll be make one heck of a travel. First, the bus ride to Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico (yes, like the dog.) Next, will be family time for a day and a half then we fly out to Cancun. And the return home is just the same, only backwards. I am taking my camera and hope to get plenty of photos and will share as soon as I can!
And because posts are less fabulous without a photo, I share with you a color photo from my Rolleiflex on 4th of July. Happy Summer!

A quinceanera has different meanings to each girl. It could mean following the word of God and being the woman He writes about. It could be the right of passage into the dating world. It could even mean the transition from clear lip gloss to eye liner and blush. And no matter the meaning, it is always felt with intense of emotion and excitement.
Itzel's Quinceanera was no different. From the excitement of getting ready to the enlightenment of the mass and of course, the fun of the dance. I am so glad that I get to be a part of such an amazing time in Itzel's life and that I was able to document it.
So with out further ado, here is the memoriable day!

It was amazing, Itzel had a mariachi playing during the dinner.

I just loved the customary waltz! They had a masquerade motif and it was very emotional!

The mask comes off, I like to think of it more metaphoric as her unleashing the woman she has become.

Keep an eye out more to come from the Rollieflex! Also, I gotta share with you the new camera I have added to my collection.

My little yorkie barked at the UPS man to his little hearts content to alarm me that he was dropping an album for me.
It is love at first sight.
I opened the packaged and ruffled through the popcorn packaging and there it was: a beautiful leather 8x10 album. I opened it and looked through the pages I, myself designed and just fell even more in love with the quality!
knows how to make a photographer swoon like I was in The Notebook movie.
Here are some photos of this beautiful leather flush-mount album of Sarai's Quinceanera.
I was so elated when I took the tissue out of a beautiful sunflower gift bag and found a 1930's Rollieflex twin reflex camera at the bottom. My friend, Hugo, of Perez Productions, a videography company, gave me this beautiful gift and I have finally developed the 120mm film.
Here are some of the shots I took just to see what would come out of it. Forgive the quality of the scans, my printer isn't so great at scanning.

Color is coming soon!

Itzel loves to laugh. She laughs with her whole body and it is definitely contagious. She is another girl who will be entering womanhood in August. I can't wait to be there to document her Quinceanera!
We met up at Corona del Mar where there were a bazillion people there but they didn't intimidate Itzel, she modeled on like a rockstar! Here are a few from the portrait session.
Happy Wednesday!
