35mm Film Tuesday

Looks very similar to the digital one... but the range of light is so much more dramatic in film. And no editing required.

Jodie McGuire takes photos, adds quotes, and sells them as postcards.  Clever and cute, yes please!

Louis Garcia painted this.  Completely self taught.

Here are some photos from the weekend by the sea and a midnight bike ride with a friend.  Also a few photos from the Riverside Arts Walk, held the first Thursday of every month.

Enjoy :)

Mandy & JB = Jahzara | Laguna Beach Maternity Photographer

When Mandy uploaded a photo of her ultrasound with baby Jahzara, I was so elated for her.  You see, Mandy has experienced college life at UCLA, traveled the world, and has had many great experiences.  Now she and JB are on the path to being parents.  Jahzara means "Princess" and she is truly blessed to have parents who are so excited to welcome her into the world.

We met up on the shore of Laguna Beach on what was supposed to be a rainy day.  Luckily, we had only grey clouds and soft light.

Mandy & JB:  Thank you for allowing me to photograph such a special time in Jahzara's life and in your lives.  I can't wait to see baby Jahzara and welcome her to this world as well!

With much love,

Jackie

Because I'm a Hopeless Romantic

I've mentioned many times before that I am with out a doubt a hopeless romantic. So, I thought, why not share with you guys my favorite hopeless romantic movies!   Here we go :)

 Shakespeare +  Leo.  Enough Said.

A true kaleidoscope infusing story, music and all of the characters involved.  The moral of the story: Love.

The Holiday I must admit is a bit cheesy.  Especially towards the end but at some point or another in my life I have been both Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet.  And Jude Law is it in... hello?!

This one is like one huge big DUH!

Memoirs of a Geisha is probably one of my all time favorites.  Simply the carefully thought out soundtrack and cinematography separates it from most romantic movies.  And the story is just absolutely beautiful.  Almost identical to the book, which I've read.

Happy Monday!

Model | Laguna Beach Photographer

Nicole and I messaged back and forth for weeks trying to nail down a day and time for her shoot.  She was looking for some beach modeling shots to help build her portfolio and of course I said yes!

It was cold and a little gloomy but we didn't get caught in the rain and even had some sun come through the heavy clouds.  I loved doing this shoot and you'd never guess Nicole is barely starting out in modeling!

Nicole: Good luck girl I know you'll go far!

Michele & Shawn Crestmore Manor Part II | Riverside Wedding Photographer

Michele and Shawn opted to have a First Look.  This is when the bride and groom see each other before the ceremony.  I know this may seem a little taboo, however, this is a great option on your big day.  Amidst of all the commotion, the First Look offers a quite moment to share alone.  Together.

It also allows us to ease into the portraits :)  Next up: Details, Ceremony & Reception!

Happy Thursday!

Michele & Shawn Crestmore Manor Part I | Riverside Wedding Photographer

Where to begin.  When we met at Starbucks I wasn't sure what to expect.  My hands were shaking and I tried to breath slowly.  I was meeting Michele and Shawn for the first time.  This wasn't my first wedding consultation.  I told myself, "I got this."

With in minutes I knew that I wanted to photograph them on their special day.  Because you can see love radiating from their eyes.  From the way they look at each other and how their family spoke about them.  Their love is the indestructible kind.  The kind that God sees as a blessing.  One that He has chosen to show to others just how wonderful love is.

Michele and Shawn:  I was so incredibly honored to have photographed your wedding.  I hid my tears behind my camera when the two of you promised forever and shared your vows with your guests.

And thank you Bryan for being my second shooter ... you are the man!

Here is Part I :  The Bride and Groom.

What a gorgeous bride! Michele you are so beautiful :)

And Shawn might I say you look quite the handsome catch here.

This last image is great because if you know Shawn, you know that he has this incredibly infectious laugh that literally makes anyone laugh.  And it was present through out the whole day making everyone share his happiness.

Next up, Part II : The First Look

Happy Tuesday!

WPPI Tradeshow

For years I've read the recaps of the madness that is WPPI.  The classes, speakers, workshops, parties, and thousands of photos with high profile photographers.  I dreamed to get a chance to even be in the same city as WPPI.

A few week ago I read that Shoot Sac needed some volunteers to help set up their booth at the trade show at WPPI.  I mustered up the courage to email them with my availability and crossed my fingers.  The next thing I knew I received an email telling me the date and time they needed me and that I'd be getting into the trade show.  Whoo hoo! I got in and even better, got to volunteer for Jessica Claire's  Shoot Sac!  And even meet her.  Very briefly mainly because I was so nervous!

I had a great time getting to meet the others who helped set up the booth on Sunday.  Then Sunday night I went to the fashion show hosted by none other than Nigel Barker! Yes, the hot Brit with a DSLR in hand.  Oh dear.  It was amazing.  On Monday I walked the trade show floor and it was just so overwhelming with all of the vendors and products.

Next year it's on.  I'm getting full registration and attending classes and hitting the trade show again.

Happy Valentine's Day

Hope everyone had a special day today.  Mine was just another ordinary Monday to be honest.  However, being the hopeless romantic that I am, subconsciously I wore pink today.  As I got dressed this morning I thought nothing of it as it is one of my favorite t-shirts.  I began driving and looked down to put my seat belt on and noticed that I was wearing pink.  I let out a little chuckle and set out to conquer my day.

And so I spent the rest of the day smiling and enjoying the weather and my pink t-shirt.  Just another normal Valentine's Day.

A quick shout out for V-Day:

Mom, Dad, Sister, friends, family, and everyone else who is special in my life:

I Love You.

I appreciate you.

My life wouldn't be the same without you.
