Where I go when I dream

Sometimes, I have dreams of putting my camera and a few changes of clothes in a backpack and closing the door behind me.  Never looking back because adventure is forward.  Because sometimes you need cool mornings in the middle of a forest, a jump into a flowing river, and a warm tent to sleep in.

This is where I go when I dream... What do you dream of?

Yessenia + Charlon | Downtown Riverside, California Destination Wedding

There is something special in being a photographer.  Not only am I able to make someone's beautiful day last forever, I am able to photograph my own family grow.  My cousin, Yessenia married Charlon on a bright and sunny day in September.  It felt like every bit of summer and they stood through the heat like champions.  And if they can withstand summer California weather, they can withstand whatever may come their way.

I wish you two the very best in life, love, and happiness!  It was an honor to photograph your wedding and live each moment of your day with you.  Love you guys!

New Website: JACKIELAMAS.COM

Introducing my new address!  As in new website address.  I bought my website back in 2010 and back then the whole vintage style was in.  It was a template and at the time, perfect for my growing business.  For the last year or so, I've wanted something different.  Never knew exactly what I wanted but I needed a change.  I saw other websites go up and for some reason, they were all the same.  Another template with blog integration, cool home site, and lots of bells and whistles.  Blah... another template meant to "wow" that costs a fortune.

I'm not sure how I can across SquareSpace.  I think I ended up on someone's website and saw that it was from SquareSpace... to be honest I'm not sure how I stumbled across it.  But I have to say, I'm sure glad I did.  They have beautiful templates, fully customizable with a clean design.  That is what I was looking for.  A website that let me change the font if I wanted, change templates, and give me good hosting.

So I made the switch.  I also made the decision to drop the "photography" at the end of the link.  Why?  To be frank, the name was too long.  I started my business thinking that I had to put "photography" so that people would know what I did.  Clearly, it's been a long road since then and I had no idea what I was doing business-wise.  Also, in gong with a cleaner, easy to navigate website, the name too had to be simple and easy to remember.  My name is short and those looking at my website will have a clear idea that I am a photographer.

So after 4 years, here is to my new website!  Make sure to click the photo to be taken to the website.  You'll love the new design, I promise!

Here is the newsletter that I sent out to my email list :).

Beautiful Sunsets + Random Thoughts.

I love where I live.  My apartment has these three huge floor to ceiling windows and the sunsets have been amazing lately.  I can see how the world around me is turning from summer to fall.  When I open the windows, the cool air makes it perfect for a cup of coffee and a good book.  I've been trying to read more.  Almost done with my first book since getting married three months ago.  Three months... can't believe how quickly time is going by.  I feel like we just got married!  Making our place feel more like a home.  Framed photos are next.  Photos of our wedding, of our travels, and bits and pieces of inspiration to keep the spark alive.  The spark of love, of life, and of our soul.

Jackie + Kevin | Laguna Beach Wedding

It was a beautiful day.  The sun was shining and the weather was perfect.  Perfect for a beautiful beach wedding at Crescent Bay in Laguna.  They decided to have a small intimate wedding with only 30 guests.  And it couldn't have been more beautiful.

With the beach as the backdrop, Jackie and Kevin vowed to love each other in front of their closest family and friends.  After, we followed them to the shore for some amazing portraits with beautiful light!  A nice dinner followed where their maid of honor and best man gave amazing toasts, as well as the fathers of both the bride and groom.

Jackie + Kevin:  thank you so much for having us there on your special day!  I enjoyed watching the two of you join lives and I wish only the best for you! Thank you!

Yessenia + Charlon Riverside Engagement Session | International Wedding Photographer

This engagement is special.  Special because it's of my beautiful cousin and her fiance.  They have been together quite some time and when Charlon started calling me

prima

, I knew he'd be here for the long haul.

We had so much fun during the session.   Which took place at a Mission in Redlands that a photographer friend of mine recommended.  It was perfect for the theme of their wedding (which you shall see in September!)  The light was gorgeous, and these two couldn't stop laughing and having fun!

Yeya + Charlon:  Thank you so much for choosing me as your photographer!  I am excited to live the wedding day through my lens and do the best job I possibly can!  I'm happy for the two of you and there is nothing more real than your love.

Laguna Beach Wedding Sneak Preview | International Wedding Photographer

I love the beach.  And there is nothing more I love than the beach, unless of course, it's a wedding at the beach :).

A cute Sneak Preview of Jackie and Kevin's wedding from this past weekend... I have a bazillion more photos to share, so stay alert!

Shramek Family | Santa Monica Pier Family Session

Where do I begin with this amazing family.  They are truly like no other family I have photographed.  I have known Ruth since high school.  I have photographed this family since little M was 3.  I photographed their engagement session, their wedding, family sessions, and when little S was born, her newborn photos.  Now that S is a little older, we were able to squeeze in a session down by the Santa Monica Pier.

They are my biggest supporters, good friends, and I feel like I'm part of their family!  Each of them, including Ruth's parents and grandparents, hold a very special place in my heart!  Helping them document their gorgeous growing family is what I consider to be an honor!

I love you guys very dearly!

xoxo,

Jackie

Matamoros Family | Chihuahua Portrait Photographer

This family is just utterly adorable.  Professor Matamoros is a Latin Dance instructor at the high school that I teach at.  He also has his own dance studio and being Cuban, he's got a lot of flavor to his rhythm.  Which is no surprise he was able to win the heart of such a gem like Laura.  Along with their gorgeous children, they are a fun family to be around!

Thank you so much for having photograph your family!  It was an absolute pleasure!
